Interstate 71 Partners Lands Fat Head’s Brewery in Upcoming Expansion

Fat Head’s Brewery will expand its operations in new Middleburg Heights location this fall

CLEVELAND, May 11, 2016 – Interstate 71 Partners is pleased to announce the upcoming expansion of Fat Head's Brewery at its new location on Engle Lake Drive along Interstate 71 in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. The property has approximately 125,000 square feet of space—75,000 of which will be occupied by Fat Head's Brewery starting this fall. JLL represented Interstate 71 Partners in the deal.

The new location will include an expanded brewery, a bottling operation site, distribution center, and a fully expanded brewpub and restaurant. This new facility will replace the current brewery and tap house operations on Sheldon Road in Middleburg Heights. In addition to the current Sheldon Road location, Fat Head's also has a brewery and restaurant on Lorain Road in North Olmsted.

Don Bain, Executive Vice President at JLL, represented Interstate 71 Partners throughout the process.

"After outgrowing their current space in Middleburg Heights, Fat Head's felt like this was the perfect location to develop a larger operational site for the long term," said Bain. "The entire deal is a win-win. Being within such close proximity to local amenities and having great access and visibility to the highway is a value-add for Fat Head's. And, having an expanded operation like this is great for the community, further solidifying their commitment to Northeast Ohio."

After working with Geis Construction and Interstate 71 Partners, Fat Head's developed the concept of including a bottling and packaging operation on-site at the new location.

"After working in the community for more than 30 years, we knew what a flexible and stable location this would be for them to continue their success," said Interstate 71 Partners President Ken Sacks. "The building offers a lot of visibility and amenities that will help their growing operation. We're excited to welcome their team and facilitate their growth."

"We're thrilled about the possibilities our new space will bring us," said Matt Cole, Fat Head's partner and brewmaster. "We want to bring our beer to more people in Northeast Ohio and beyond. Our new space will help allow us to do that."

The new Middleburg Heights location is within close proximity to I-71 and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. The property can also be seen from the Bagley Road Interchange on I-71.

Fat Head's targeted move-in date is November 2017. The brewing company also has locations in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Portland, Oregon.
