JLL to Market Office Space at the Historic Tompkins Hall in Optimist Park

Transit-oriented, mixed-use redevelopment to offer tenants a truly unique lifestyle


CHARLOTTE, September 28, 2016 – JLL has been hired to market 80,000 square feet of creative, loft office space at Tompkins Hall, a historic textile mill established in 1891 in the Optimist Park neighborhood that will be redeveloped into a mixed-use project featuring a food hall, multiple restaurants and retail.

Charley Leavitt and Tom FitzGerald with JLL's Agency Leasing team will market and lease the space at Tompkins Hall, located between uptown Charlotte and NoDa. The site sits along the planned LYNX Blue Line Extension, expected to be open for service in summer 2017, and the planned pedestrian/bicycle trail that will connect to the Cross Charlotte Trail and the Rail Trail that ends in First Ward Park.

Charlotte-based White Point Partners and Atlanta-based Paces Properties have partnered to bring to Charlotte what Paces has successfully done in Atlanta with its office space and food hall mixed-use developments – Krog Street Market and The Stove Works. The development team has started to strip away the modern additions that were done to Tompkins Hall to reveal the original structure and architecture.

The office space will feature the original hardwood floors, open floor plans, soaring 14+ foot ceilings as well as  board and  beam interiors with a true industrial character. "Tompkins Hall is unlike any other mixed-use development in Charlotte. It brings together historic character with the modern amenities that today's office workers are seeking in a walkable, urban environment," said FitzGerald, a Vice President with JLL.

White Point and Paces plan to build out multiple restaurants and approximately 20,000 square feet for a food hall that will introduce new food, beverage and retail concepts, further enhancing the culinary scene in Charlotte.
