JLL Selected to Lease Newly Renovated Columbia Plaza

Introducing the rebranded Columbia Plaza, with nearly 220,000 square feet of high-level office space available

CINCINNATI, October 6, 2016 – Today JLL announced that it has been selected to serve as the exclusive leasing agent at Columbia Plaza, a 537,400-square-foot, 29-story office building conveniently located at 250 East Fifth Street in downtown Cincinnati. A total of 217,326 square feet of office space is available for lease, all of which offers panoramic views of the downtown marketplace and Cincinnati skyline.  

Formerly known as the Chiquita Center, the building is undergoing major renovations and will rebrand under its former namesake: Columbia Plaza. As the historic building is reintroduced to the city as its former name, a number of projects are underway to give the building a fresh, modern feel. Interior upgrades include a significant expansion and modernization of the first-floor lobby, a new tenant lounge and improved common areas connecting to the second floor Skywalk. The exterior renovations will focus on an improved arrival experience from East Fifth Street and upgrades made to the connected parking garage. Renovations by BHDP Architecture are expected to be complete in early 2017.

JLL represents the landlord, who is a well-capitalized institutional investor with assets throughout the country. Executive Vice Presidents in JLL's Cincinnati office Bill Poffenberger and David Ottenjohn are representing the owner for all leasing activity.

"Coming across Class A office space in high-level floors is extremely rare in the CBD, especially in one of the area's most vibrant office environments," said Poffenberger. "Vacancy in Cincinnati has continuously declined over the past few years, from 24% in 2011 to 15% at the end of Q2 2016. We're expecting immediate interest in the available space from both mid-size and large businesses."
