JLL Appoints Herman Bulls to Senior Leadership Role


CHICAGO, IL, Sept, 14 2016 - JLL (NYSE: JLL) has appointed industry veteran Herman Bulls, Vice Chairman, Americas to a senior leadership role focused on growing JLL's business in the Americas. Bulls will leverage his extensive experience and relationships with board and C-suite executives to connect the public, educational and private sectors, creating new business opportunities across JLL.

Bulls will work in tandem with JLL's service line leaders and business development teams to develop and expand client relationships across all geographies and industry sectors. He will also work closely with JLL's Higher Education, Public Institutions and Government business leaders, areas where he has vast experience. In the past 18 months, JLL has been awarded significant real estate and capital markets assignments with respected higher education institutions such as Drexel University, Carnegie Mellon, Florida A&M University, The University of the District of Columbia and University of California - Merced.

During his 27 years at JLL, Bulls has worked in development, investment management, asset management, facilities operations and business development/retention. A visionary leader and entrepreneur, Bulls combined his experiences as a professor at West Point, government service, college board membership and corporate real estate to establish JLL's Public Institutions group, JLL's first vertical specialty group, in 1996. He served as CEO and later chairman of that group until 2013, when he joined the Solutions Development team.

Bulls received a B.S. degree in engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and an M.B.A. in finance from Harvard Business School. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Council, an organization of senior African American business executives from Fortune 500 companies; and former chairman of the Executive Leadership Foundation. Bulls is a long-standing member of Leadership Washington and the Real Estate Executive Council, a group of the most senior African American real estate professionals across the country. He is a founding member and was the inaugural president of the African American Real Estate Professionals of Washington, D.C., and serves on the University Development Council of the Urban Land Institute. He is a retired colonel from the U.S. Army Reserves.

Last year, Bulls was selected by the Secretary of Veteran Affairs to serve as a member of the MyVA Advisory Committee, whose mission is to advise the Secretary on the modernization of VA's culture, processes, and capabilities in order to put the needs, expectations, and interests of Veterans and their beneficiaries first.

Bulls currently serves on several public, private and non-profit boards, including Comfort Systems U.S.A (NYSE:FIX), Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE:CSC), USAA, the real estate advisory committee for New York State Teachers' Retirement System, Rasmussen College and the Military Bowl. He served on the board of Exelis Inc. (NYSE:XLS) until it was acquired by Harris Corporation in 2015 and Tyco International (NYSE:TYC) until its combination with Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI) in September, 2016. Bulls has served on the West Point Association of Graduates board of directors for the last 20 years, including four years as vice chairman.
