JLL Bolsters Multifamily Roster with Addition to East Coast Platform

Jim Sewell joins JLL as Senior Vice President in the Carolinas

The Carolinas and coastal Georgia continue to see exceptional population growth, driving demand for multifamily. In response, JLL’s Capital Markets today announced Jim Sewell has joined the firm as Senior Vice President. Sewell will partner with Senior Vice President Andrea Howard to co-lead the firm’s Carolinas and coastal Georgia multifamily platform under the direction of Managing Directors Derrick Bloom and David Gutting. Sewell will focus on investment sales, business development and equity placement for multifamily properties.

“With the rapid population expansion, income growth, and strong multifamily demand witnessed throughout most of the major Carolina markets, it is imperative for our business to have an industry-leading presence in these dynamic markets,” said Gutting. “Jim’s wealth of knowledge and experience in the sector, specifically in the Carolinas, adds tremendous value to our platform and provides our clients with the breadth of service they have come to expect from JLL.”

Added Bloom, “The Southeast continues to drive multifamily absorption gains nationally. With Jim’s hiring, and our offices located in both North and South Carolina, we now offer a unique presence across all Carolina markets. JLL is in a prime position to continue capturing that momentum.”

Sewell brings nearly 20 years of multifamily brokerage experience to JLL and prior to joining the firm was President of Coastal Apartment Advisors, where he was directly involved with transactions totaling $1.2 billion. Before forming CAA, Sewell completed more than $350 million in multifamily transactions at a leading multifamily brokerage firm. Sewell holds a degree in economics from Emory University.
