JLL Lands Leading PAGI Expert Walter Kemmsies

Foremost global infrastructure advisor joins JLL

Baltimore, MD, April 7, 2016 – JLL announced today that Walter Kemmsies, Ph.D., has joined the firm as Managing Director, Economist and Chief Strategist for the U.S. Ports, Airports and Global Infrastructure Group.

In his new role at JLL, Kemmsies will execute initiatives for public and private sector clients who have interests in or properties proximate to seaports and airports throughout North America. He will also expand the U.S. Ports, Airports and Global Infrastructure Group’s expertise to the infrastructure sector and assist both public agencies and investors in underwriting, financing and evaluating new investment vehicles and opportunities.

“Our clients rely on JLL to provide leading strategic research, market intelligence and expert, in-depth analysis on the PAGI marketplace,” said Mark Levy, Greater Baltimore Market Director and head of the U.S. Port, Airport and Global Infrastructure Group for JLL. “Walter strengthens our expertise and is the de facto leading strategist in the PAGI space.”

“Walter is skilled at global trade forecasting, international logistics/sourcing, freight infrastructure investment and development and freight infrastructure policy and will be an incredible asset to JLL,” added Levy.

Kemmsies was previously the Chief Economist for Moffat & Nichol, a leading global infrastructure advisement firm where he directed market studies, financial analyses and global trade forecasts for projects ranging from strategic development plans for ports and terminal operators to mergers and acquisitions transactions. He is an advisor to executives at various port authorities and major transportation and manufacturing companies. His professional experience working in Europe, Latin America and Asia uniquely qualifies him as a global trade economist. Prior to working with Moffatt & Nichol, Kemmsies was the Head of European Strategy at JP Morgan in London and, earlier, Head of Global Industry Strategy at UBS in Zurich and London.

Kemmsies regularly contributes to the Federal Reserve’s Survey of Professional Forecasters, is a member of various professional associations and publishes a regular industry outlook column in American Shipper. He has been a keynote speaker at major industry and public sector conferences such as the Transpacific Maritime conference and the Terminal Operators Conference, as well as at the American Association of Port Authorities and the International Association of Ports and Harbors.

Walter is an advisor to the U.S. Department of Commerce Advisory Committee on Supply Chain Competitiveness and the Department of Transportation’s National Task Force on Transportation Infrastructure Valuation.
