Soylent To Relocate Headquarters to Broadway Media Center in Downtown Los Angeles

JLL completes new 16,400 s.f. lease for producer of meal replacement food

LOS ANGELES, July 6, 2015 - Soylent, a pioneer in food technology, has signed a new lease for 16,400 square feet of space at Broadway Media Center located at 207 S. Broadway Street in Downtown Los Angeles, California.  Soylent will occupy the fifth and sixth floor of the building for its headquarters.

JLL Los Angeles Vice President Ben Stapleton represented Soylent in the lease. The landlord, Broadway Civic Center, LP, was represented by CBRE.

“After a comprehensive market analysis, Soylent chose Broadway Media Center because the company wanted to move into a creative space that would reflect their culture, provide a sense of identity and connect the organization as it expands," said Stapleton. "We were able to negotiate a favorable lease rate and highly visible exterior signage, further immersing them into the Downtown LA skyline and revitalization effort.

According to JLL's Skyline Report, competition is growing between operators of traditional trophy assets and owners of newly re-positioned product in capturing high growth tech and creative tenants. Broadway Media Center has recently been converted from a traditional office building to creative office space.

“After an exhaustive search, we are thrilled to headquarter our growing business in downtown Los Angeles,” said Rob Rhineheart, co-founder and CEO of Soylent. “LA has long been a beautiful, diverse center of culture and industry and we are extremely excited about the future of downtown, which is rapidly becoming a thriving, inspiring city center.”

Added Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti: "Downtown LA's reputation as an innovation hub has grown exponentially and Soylent's presence will only stoke the fire. I'm thrilled to welcome Soylent to the neighborhood where they can help fuel the creativity and can-do spirit in one of our start-up hubs."
