Silverman to oversee key projects and develop new business, relationships in health care sector

NEW YORK, May 20, 2015 — JLL has hired Susan Silverman as a senior vice president in its Project and Development Services group in New York. Her responsibilities include oversight of key health care projects for JLL as well as development of new business and relationships in the healthcare sector.

Silverman has more than 30 years of experience in the health care sector and is highly skilled in the planning and design of health care-related projects. She also has years of practical experience in the day-to-day operation of hospitals and health care facilities as a hospital administrator and nurse.

“Susan was the ideal choice to assist JLL in further growing its presence in the health care industry,” said George Ladyman, international director and head of JLL’s Project and Development Services group in the Northeast. “She has a great deal of experience overseeing the planning and design of health care facilities. That skill is further complemented by her hands-on knowledge of the daily operations of the health care industry from her years as a nurse and hospital administrator.”

Earlier, she worked at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where she first served as administrative director of its Oncology Service Line and then as director of program planning for the hospital’s Office of Strategy. Before that, Silverman held a number of positions at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center including administrator of Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics.

In addition, Silverman has extensive practical experience in the health care industry, having worked as a nurse at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Children's Hospital Medical Center in Boston. She also served as an instructor at the College of Nursing at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago.

Silverman earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. She was certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner by the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Silverman earned her MBA at Baruch College/Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

She serves as president elect of the Nursing Institute for Healthcare Design, and as treasurer for both the New York Society for Health Planning and Cancer101 Inc. Silverman is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society for Collegiate Schools of Business, and Sigma Theta Tau, the national nursing honor society. She was a Commonwealth Fund Executive Nurse Fellow from 1987 to 1989.
