EPA Recognizes JLL with 2015 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Awards

Fourth consecutive year JLL is recognized by the U.S. EPA for protecting the environment through climate initiatives

Chicago, April 6, 2015 – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognized JLL with a 2015 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for the firm's continued leadership in protecting the environment through energy efficiency achievements. In addition, JLL received a 2015 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Climate Communications Award for its outstanding efforts to combat climate change. This marks the fourth consecutive year JLL has received a Sustained Excellence Award for its dedication to driving energy efficiency in both its corporate and client portfolios.

"Today's commercial building owners and investors look at energy performance to not only achieve sustainability initiatives, but also to reduce costs, increase efficiencies and drive productivity," said Dan Probst, Chairman of Energy and Sustainability Services, JLL. "Understanding baseline energy performance with tools like ENERGY STAR is the first step for commercial property owners and investors to achieve the long-term benefits of energy efficiency throughout their portfolios."

"Through their sustained participation with ENERGY STAR, JLL is helping Americans save money, save energy, and do their part to reduce our nation's greenhouse gas emissions that fuel climate change," said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. "I applaud JLL for earning EPA's highest ENERGY STAR award, the 2015 Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award, demonstrating a strong commitment to energy efficiency and preserving a healthy planet for future generations."

As an ENERGY STAR partner since 1998, a key to JLL's service offerings are energy reductions and sustainability initiatives that combat climate change. In 2014, the firm had 164 ENERGY STAR-certified buildings in its portfolio and hosted a franchise ENERGY STAR Battle of the Buildings Competition to reward facility managers and operating engineers that improved their buildings' ENERGY STAR scores. Last year alone, JLL helped clients reduce 220,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide and 377 million kWh of energy, resulting in $39 million in energy costs savings and the equivalent of removing roughly 46,300 cars annually from the road.

"We're thrilled to maintain the prestigious ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year distinction for the past four years," said Bob Best, Executive Vice President of Energy and Sustainability Services, JLL. "Since commercial buildings account for about 40 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions, our partnership with ENERGY STAR helps JLL play a critical role in tackling climate change globally."

The 2015 Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Awards are given to a variety of organizations to recognize their contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through superior energy efficiency achievements. Recipients have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by setting and achieving aggressive goals, and employing innovative energy efficiency approaches. These awards recognize ongoing leadership across the ENERGY STAR program, including energy-efficient products, services, homes and buildings in the commercial, industrial and public sectors.
