JLL Bolsters Sustainability Expertise with Senior Hire

Sustainability innovator Sundee Wislow joins JLL

CHICAGO, Jan. 8, 2014 – JLL has tapped Sundee Wislow to lead the global real estate firm’s development, acquisition and roll-out of sustainability offerings for real estate investors and corporate owners. Chicago-based Wislow will focus on reducing the costs of owning real estate through improving energy and environmental performance.

“From the Willis Tower to Google to her work on public policy, Sundee has a proven track record of helping clients reduce utility spend and environmental costs and improve corporate responsibility and reporting,” said Dan Probst, JLL’s Chairman of Energy and Sustainability Services. “Real estate investors and corporations are increasingly seeking ways to drive value through environmental sustainability. Sundee will keep JLL at the cutting edge of sustainability — from smart building technology and efficient operations, to strategic reporting and marketing, to space use and employee engagement.”

Before joining JLL, Wislow founded the sustainability practice at U.S. Equities, which advised commercial property owners on improving resource efficiency and building performance. She was one of the first real estate professionals to offer sustainability services in South America, and was an early leader in designing portfolio-wide sustainability programs for investor-owned assets. Previously,Wislow was executive director of a sustainable land use non-profit organization.

As part of her civic contributions, Wislow helped design a ComEd energy efficiency incentive for commercial property owners; worked on a pilot program to connect whole-building energy data with EPA’s Energy Star program; and helped draft Chicago’s 2013 energy benchmarking and disclosure ordinance.

Sundee holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, graduated cum laude from Bates College, and has served on sustainability advisory committees for the City of Chicago, the University of Chicago Sustainability Management Program, Building Owners and Managers Association, and as a board member of the Active Transportation Alliance and the ReBuilding Exchange.
