Raising the Bar – and Equity – from Houston’s Hot Financing Market

Industry veteran Tom Podgorski joins JLL as Managing Director

HOUSTON, Sept. 24, 2014 – Sparked by job and population growth and a robust supply of debt and equity, Houston has earned the status of a bona fide hotbed for commercial real estate investment. In response, JLL’s Capital Markets has enlisted the expertise of Tom Podgorski, who will join the firm’s real estate investment banking (REIB) platform. Podgorski will partner with Managing Director Paul House and the Houston team, working under the direction of the firm’s REIB leaders, Executive Managing Directors Mike Melody, Tom Melody and Tom Fish to provide an array of debt services, with an emphasis on raising equity.

Podgorski holds 30 years of commercial real estate experience and joins JLL from RED Development, where he served as executive vice president of Capital Markets, sourcing debt and equity. Prior to that, he was the Chief Investment Officer of a private equity firm that focused on multifamily development and investment.  He was also a senior executive and founder of CBRE Realty Finance, a specialty finance company.  Podgorski also spent more than 20 years at Cigna Real Estate Investors, responsible for large loan origination and mezzanine investing.  He earned his degree from Western New England University and is a certified Chartered Financial Analyst.
