Leasing Velocity Picks up in Vancouver with BergerABAM’s 8,000 SF Lease

Engineering and environmental firm signs a new lease for entire third floor at Block 56

Portland, Oregon – August 11, 2014 – BergerABAM, an engineering and environmental firm which provides services in the Pacific Northwest, has signed a new lease for an approximately 8,000 square feet at Block 56, located at 210 E 13th Street in downtown Vancouver, Washington.

The Vancouver engineering and environmental firm will move from its existing offices at 1111 Main Street later this year to take the entire third floor of the former Vancouver City Hall building. Tom Shimota and John Lee of JLL represented the landlord, Block 56, LLC. Eric Turner at CRESA Portland represented the tenant.

“We were delighted to represent Block 56 in this new lease with a highly respected regional tenant,” said Tom Shimota, JLL. 

Block 56 was built in 1966 as Vancouver City Hall and is located in downtown’s focal point.  Its transformation has been the topic of much discussion in the market. Under the guidance of the landlord and GBD Architects, the three-story, 29,000-square-foot building has undergone a significant redevelopment including asbestos abatement and the installation of new mechanical, electrical and elevators.

The building features stained concrete floors, high open ceilings with spiral ducting and pendant light fixtures, abundant daylight, bike parking, a fitness center and more.

Block 56’s central location puts it within easy reach of numerous restaurants, retail amenities, several banks and public buildings such as the Clark County Courthouse and Vancouver Community Library, which is part the ongoing Library Square mixed use development. Block 56 is two blocks from north and southbound interchanges on I-5 and 15 minutes drive from Portland International AirportÍ and downtown Portland.
