Jones Lang LaSalle Wins Assignment to Manage 555 12th Street

MetLife to reposition the East End building

WASHINGTON, Jan. 23 2014 -- MetLife Real Estate Investors has awarded Jones Lang LaSalle the property management assignment for 555 12th Street, a 12-story, Class A office building in Washington, DC's East End.

"We put together a strong team that offered a fresh perspective with intensity toward the tenant experience,” said Meredith L. Roark, RPA, CPM, LEED Green Associate, Regional Director of Mid-Atlantic Property Management for Jones Lang LaSalle.

MetLife acquired the 785,000-square-foot office building in a deal that closed in the second week of January. The seller was Toronto-based Manulife. The new owner plans to reposition the asset in anticipation of the departure of its anchor tenant, which occupies about half the building through 2015.

Constructed in 1998, 555 12th Street is located across the street from the Metro Center Metrorail station (red, blue and orange lines). It occupies a full city block between 11th and 12th Streets and E and F Streets, and features floor plates that average 59,500 square feet. The building offers tenants Trophy class status and high-end amenities, 531 underground parking spaces and 24-hour security.

The building also houses 145,000 square feet of retail space on two concourses, including the award-winning Ristorante Tosca along with other retail offerings.
