Jones Lang LaSalle Assists FedEx With 33-Acre Land Purchase in Indianapolis

FedEx Building 328,000-Square-Foot Distribution Facility in Ameriplex Business Park


INDIANAPOLIS, IN (Sept 16, 2013) — Construction is underway on a new FedEx distribution facility in the Ameriplex business park in Indianapolis. Matt Dickerson and Chip Barnes, both senior vice presidents with Jones Lang LaSalle (NYSE:JLL), assisted the owner, Holladay Properties, in selling the 33-acre parcel to FedEx.

The company is building a 328,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution facility at 5800 S. Raceway Road on the southwest side of the city, nearly doubling the size of its SmartPost distribution operation in Indianapolis.  FedEx has an existing SmartPost facility in 180,000 square feet of space nearby, at 5454 Decatur Blvd.

The SmartPost business unit ships small, low-weight packages through the U.S. Postal Service.

JDC Indy, the development partner for FedEx, expects to spend $20 million on the new warehouse and distribution facility. The location is ideal for the packaging giant because of its location adjacent to the airport and within one of the most active logistics markets in the country. The site also draws from a strong labor pool.

Construction should be completed by the fall of 2014.
