Retailers Blow into the Windy City

Jones Lang LaSalle expands Midwest retail tenant representation platform with the addition of Adam Cody

CHICAGO, Aug. 28, 2013 — In response to an increase in client demand for Midwest retail tenant representation expertise, Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) today announced it has added Adam Cody to its platform. Cody joins the firm as a Vice President based in Chicago. He will partner with Executive Vice Presidents Lew Kornberg and Walter Wahlfeldt to expand the firm’s retail tenant representation capabilities.

“Chicago’s improving economy, driven by population and job growth, has revitalized consumer spending. As the Chicago retail market makes a comeback, national and local retailers alike are seeking to expand their footprints and capitalize on the upswing,” said Kornberg. “The addition of Adam to our practice will advance our ability to better serve our clients expansion goals throughout the Midwest.”

Cody joins JLL from SRS Real Estate Partners with more than a decade of experience negotiating more than 110 sale and lease transactions in the Chicago metro area on behalf of tenants. His expertise in supporting national retailers on all aspects of their portfolio includes expansions and dispositions, go-to market site selection and relocations, and new and existing lease transactions for retailers such as Discount Tire, JCPenney, Toys “R” Us, Verizon Wireless, 7-Eleven, Corner Bakery and AutoNation. He graduated from University of Illinois with a bachelor of economics degree. He is an active member in the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and is the co-chair for ICSC’s Chicago Next Generation planning committee.

“JLL’s full-service retail platform is quickly becoming one of the strongest in the business,” said Cody.  “The investment the firm is making in the platform and its people make this the best place for me to help my clients. The global platform and local market delivery of services will enable me to provide a broader array of opportunities for my clients.”

During the last two years, Jones Lang LaSalle Retail has added more than 30 brokers in major markets including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Florida, Hawaii and Southern California. During the first half of 2013, JLL Retail has added more than 60 new assignments and more than 30 retail clients across the United States. The firm recently added retail tenant representation experts Michael Hirschfeld, Steve Farris and Michael Startin to its national platform.
