Firm appoints Jim Balderson to lead brokerage services for firm’s first Utah office
SALT LAKE CITY, May 14, 2013 – As the sound of America’s economic recovery resounds across America, it echoes clearly in Salt Lake City, where global commercial real estate firm Jones Lang LaSalle opened a new office to serve the needs of its growing client base in the market. The firm, which already manages more than 4.6 million square feet of space in Utah, is committed to supporting clients throughout the state and has planted a flag at Gateway Office Center located at 90 South 400 West in Salt Lake City’s central business district. To lead brokerage services and spearhead growth in the market, JLL appointed industry expert Jim Balderson, Senior Vice President. In his new role, Balderson will seek and cultivate new business that taps into the firm’s multi-service platform. Balderson and his expanding Utah team offer office and industrial brokerage services on behalf of tenants and landlords across the state. Balderson will work closely with Barry Dorfman, Jones Lang LaSalle’s Market Director for Colorado and Utah.
Market research supports that Salt Lake City’s economy continues to grow while commercial real estate is thriving. “Jones Lang LaSalle sees great potential for growth in Utah,” said Balderson. “The market continues to improve and demand for office space is healthy which provides a great backdrop for our business and also presents our clients with multiple opportunities.”
Primary brokers driving client relationships with Balderson include: Mark Alexander, Senior Vice President, previously served as Managing Director for JLL’s Washington market and has over 25 years of diversified commercial real estate experience. He was awarded the national Turn-Around Award for his accomplishments in helping to turn around transaction and asset services.Wick Udy, Vice President, specializes in Industrial and Logistics. Wick has over 10 years of experience. His team is one of the top transaction producing industrial teams in the Utah Industrial real estate market. Wick has been involved in more than 700 transactions, representing clients in the acquisition or disposition of over 4.5 million square feet of facilities, 1,200 acres of land, with a cumulative value exceeding $700 million.

Balderson, recognized as one of the top brokers in the state of Utah, joined JLL in July 2012, and has worked in both California and Utah. Last year, his team completed more than 60 transactions and leased or sold 410,000 square feet of commercial real estate space with a value approaching $30 million.
