Jones Lang LaSalle Secures 75,020-SF Lease for Brookfield at 200 Liberty Street

Research company GfK signs 16-year lease to occupy entire fourth floor at Class A, 1.6 MSF 200 Liberty Street in Lower Manhattan


NEW YORK, March 7, 2013 — Jones Lang LaSalle has completed a new, direct lease for Brookfield Office Properties with GfK at 200 Liberty Street. The global research company signed a 16-year lease for 75,020 square feet of commercial office space at the Class A, 1.6 million-square-foot commercial office building.
The building owner was represented by John Wheeler, managing director, along with Paul Glickman, vice chairman, and Clayton Kline, vice president, all with JLL. The team worked closely with David Cheiken, vice president of leasing, with Brookfield Office Properties. The tenant, GfK, was represented by Mark Jaccom, president and managing principal, with Cresa New York; and Richard Plehn, senior managing director, with Colliers International.

“GfK and their representatives carefully considered all options in Midtown, Midtown South and Lower Manhattan before choosing 200 Liberty Street,” said Wheeler. “The unique attributes of the building’s fourth floor and the Brookfield Place complex carried the day. The fourth floor allowed for a highly efficient occupancy, giving the global research firm the ability to house its operations on a single floor. The fourth floor space features above-standard ceiling heights, bright exposures and attractive views, owing to the wide setbacks from any adjacent structures.”

GfK will occupy the entire fourth floor at 200 Liberty Street, previously known as 1 World Financial Center, which is located between West Street and South End Avenue. The global research firm is relocating to the office tower from its previous offices at Chelsea Market, 75 Ninth Avenue.

The Brookfield Place complex is undergoing a comprehensive $250 million redevelopment that will provide a soaring new glass entry pavilion, direct connections to the new World Trade Center and Fulton Center transit hubs, and new destination eateries and retailers. Tenants at Brookfield Place enjoy a five-acre waterfront setting and direct access to the recently completed waterfront esplanade, which runs from the Brooklyn Bridge to the George Washington Bridge, as well as the renowned Winter Garden.
