Workplace Industry Veteran Steve Hargis to Focus on Corporate Productivity

JLL adds bench strength to the firm’s rapidly expanding Workplace Strategy global team

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 25, 2012 – Cultural and generational shifts are rapidly changing how work is performed and how corporate facilities are used and managed. In recognition that this change requires workplace and real estate portfolio optimization strategies to be in alignment throughout the world, Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) is strengthening its Workplace Strategy global leadership team with the appointment of Steve Hargis, MCR.w., LEED AP, ID+C, to Executive Vice President, Workplace Strategy. Hargis joins recently hired workplace veterans Bernice Boucher (leading Workplace Strategy in the Americas from New York), Claudia Hamm-Bastow in EMEA and Su Lim throughout Asia-Pacific.

“We are investing in a team of the top innovators in this field,” said Peter Shannon, Managing Director and head of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Strategic Consulting business in the Americas. “We welcome Steve’s leadership and track record envisioning workplace strategy that drives the productivity corporations need to thrive in a global economy.”

Hargis joins with more than 32 years of experience, most recently 17 years with HOK, where he was Global Director of Consulting, serving Eli Lilly, Zurich Insurance, Shell Oil, John Deere, Rockwell Collins and others.  Hargis is a veteran leader in the CoreNet Global organization, a former Global Board member (2008-2010), past president of the Northern California Chapter, a coursework curriculum developer and faculty member and a contributing author of the CoreNet 2020 Research.  Hargis earned a bachelor of environmental design degree from Texas A&M University, and a master’s of architecture degree from the University of Illinois. Prior to HOK, he was employed by leading architectural firms SOM, 3DI, ISD and ISI in Houston, New York and Mexico City.

A leader in the real estate outsourcing field, JLL’s workplace strategy team is a key component of its Corporate Solutions business, within the strategic consulting group. By creating outsourcing partnerships to manage and execute a range of corporate real estate services, JLL professionals help corporations improve productivity in the cost, efficiency and performance of their national, regional or global real estate portfolios. This service delivery capability helps corporations improve business performance, particularly as companies turn to the outsourcing of their real estate activity as a way to manage expenses and enhance profitability.
