Jones Lang LaSalle Completes 447,000 s.f. Residential Construction at NorthPoint

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS, January 20, 2009 - Jones Lang LaSalle, the world's leading financial and professional services firm specializing in real estate, has completed construction on two residential condominium buildings totaling 447,000 s.f. at 1 and 2 Earhart Way in NorthPoint, Cambridge, Massachusetts for Pan Am Systems.

1 Earhart Way consists of 132,000 s.f. of space on 8 floors with 99 one-bedroom loft style units and one level of underground parking. 2 Earhart Way is 315,000 s.f. on 12 floors with 230 one-to-three bedroom flats and duplex units and a two-level underground garage. Design features of the project include: an interior courtyard with bamboo garden, Italian Arclinea kitchens, solid surface counters, bamboo floors, glass stairways, and glass and metal finishes.

Jones Lang LaSalle's construction team was led by Senior Vice President and Project Executive Peter Stankiewicz. Other team members included: Senior Vice President and Construction Manager Larry Carpenter, and Construction Managers Anne Donnelly and Jen Cronan. Dan Browne and Harvey Pentleton served as lead construction Superintendents on the project. 1 Earhart Way was designed by CBT Architects. Architects Alliance served as the design firm for 2 Earhart Way. Other participating firms on the project were: Cosentini Associates, McNamara/Salvia, Inc., and Haley & Aldrich. The condominium sales agent is The Collaborative Companies.

"The project had a unique set of challenges," said Peter Stankiewicz. "The buildings required deep foundations. Additionally, the lack of infrastructure at this former rail yard meant that the site needed all new roads and utilities. Our success was a result of the team's diligence."

"In addition to their contemporary design and early contribution to a forward-thinking master plan for the area, an interesting feature of these two buildings is that instead of having singular entry points, they activate over two blocks with 44 individual unit entries along the sidewalk," said Principal of CBT David Nagahiro. "This feature is critical to the creation of a new neighborhood at NorthPoint. We really enjoy working with Jones Lang LaSalle. Their commitment to integrated project delivery enabled us to achieve many of our design goals."

According to Peter Clewes, Partner at Architects Alliance: "Our intent was to create a signature building for the NorthPoint community that responded to both the immediate context and larger ambitions of the NorthPoint master plan. The forward looking architecture creates a contemporary and distinctive image for the community." Jones Lang LaSalle's construction group manages over $190 million in project volume annually. Their work ranges from interior buildouts to mixed-use ground up developments with specialties in residential, office, life sciences, manufacturing and distribution facilities, building renovations, R&D facilities and retail projects.
