National Institutes of Health Signs 12-Year Lease in North Bethesda


WASHINGTON, May 4, 2012 – Jones Lang LaSalle professionals have assisted the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) in the award of a 12-year lease renewal in Montgomery County for the National Institutes of Health.  The lease is for 99,583 square feet at The Atrium at Rock Spring Park, located at 10401 Fernwood Road in Bethesda, MD.

The GSA’s acquisition team was led by Jim Phelan and Glenn Harvey.  Jones Lang LaSalle professionals representing the government included Howard Traul, Joe Judge and Rob Carey.  Eugene Smith of FD StoneWater represented the landlord.

The three-story, 250,000-square-foot office building is ENERGY STAR® qualified and offers easy access to the Capital Beltway and Interstate 270.  The property is 15 miles from downtown Washington, D.C. and five miles from downtown Bethesda.

According to its website, GSA’s leased portfolio contains more than 7,100 separate properties – totaling approximately 189 million square feet – dispersed across the United States.  Since 2005, Jones Lang LaSalle has assisted GSA in the award of more than 1,000 leases.  Nationwide, the firm is currently assisting on more than 525 lease procurements for Federal civilian departments and agencies across the executive, legislative and judicial branches.
