Jones Lang LaSalle Adds Banking Industry Specialist to Growing Real Estate Investment Banking Team

Michael Mounts joins as Managing Director in Chicago


CHICAGO, JUNE 12, 2009 — Jones Lang LaSalle announced that 25-year banking industry specialist Michael Mounts joined the Real Estate Investment Banking (REIB) team in Chicago as a Managing Director.  In his new position, Mr. Mounts will leverage his extensive knowledge of real estate law and the debt capital markets to originate financings for clients as part of the firm’s extensive Value Recovery Services.

During his tenure at Bank of America, Mounts was responsible for a number of diverse high profile transactions.  He led the $500MM recapitalization of Sun Communities, and originated the financing on the new $100MM Chicago FBI headquarters, as well as originating the largest single residential loan in Chicago history with the Presidential Towers in 2007.  Prior to the Bank of America, Mr. Mounts did a stint in credit policy with ABN-Amro/LaSalle National Bank as a Vice President, and spent the early 90's doing workout and recapitalization work, where he managed the liquidation of a regional bank loan portfolio, led loss recovery efforts and worked with senior management to facilitate the sale of a community bank group under a ‘cease and desist order’.
 
Mr. Mounts earned his undergraduate degree in accounting/management from Northwood University and was awarded a Masters in Real Estate Law, with honors, from John Marshall Law School.  He is currently in the process of completing his second Masters in taxation. He is the holder of the prestigious Chartered Real Estate Investor (CRI) designation and Chartered Mortgage Bankers (CMB) designation awarded by the Mortgage Bankers Association, as well as a CFA candidate.  Mr. Mounts was one of Bank of America’s permanent representatives to the Urban Land Institute and serves on the membership and training committees for the Chartered Real Estate Investor Society.  He is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association, as well as the ICSC.  He holds a Real Estate Brokers license in Illinois.
