Jones Lang LaSalle Boosts Retail Investment Sales Expertise in Southwest with Market-Leading Hire in Houston

George Cushing joins as Managing Director

HOUSTON, Sept. 28, 2011 — Jones Lang LaSalle today announced the firm is expanding its Capital Markets bench in the Southwest with the addition of an industry veteran retail investment sales expert George Cushing in Houston.
Cushing will join the firm as a Managing Director to strengthen the firm’s Capital Markets platform in Texas and the Southwest.  He will partner with the real estate investment banking team’s leadership trio of Tom Melody, Mike Melody and Tom Fish, along with Paul House, the Houston Capital Markets leader, and the firm’s prominent multifamily and office investment sales teams in the Houston market to strengthen the firm’s retail investment sales client service offerings.

“George has consistently ranked as one of the top retail investment sales brokers in Houston and the Southwest over the past 10 years,” said House.  “The addition of this market veteran will allow us to drive significant growth for our Capital Markets clients in this region.”

Added Kris Cooper, Managing Director and leader of the firm’s Retail Investment Sales practice, “Over the past several months, we’ve added key new hires in Southern California and now one of the top producers in the nation in Houston—all part of our goal to round out the firm’s retail investment sales expertise with top quality, seasoned professionals in key markets across the country.”

Cushing was formerly an Executive Vice President with Grubb & Ellis, having been with the firm since 1982.  Cushing was a national Top 10 Producer in 2003, 2004 and 2006 and number one producer in the Houston office in 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2008. Cushing was also a recipient of the Houston Business Journal’s Heavy Hitters MVP Award for three consecutive years, one of 10 citywide honorees selected by a peer panel for this distinction.  He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas.  He has been a member of International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) since 1982.

The firm is also adding a number of additional industry experts who have elected to join Jones Lang LaSalle including Vice President Wendy Vandeventer.  During her nearly 24-year career, she has been directly responsible for the structuring and implementation of marketing strategies for investment properties throughout the United States.  She is a member of ICSC, the Houston chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) and a Chairman with the Houston Livestock and Rodeo, benefiting youth and education throughout Texas.
Jones Lang LaSalle Houston Market Director Dan Bellow concluded, “These additions to our team represent some of the most significant Capital Markets hires in Houston since early last year, when we expanded our real estate investment banking executive leadership.  George and Wendy’s stellar reputation in this market is well deserved and we feel certain our clients will reap immediate benefits from our commitment to provide them with the best talent in the nation.”
