Jones Lang LaSalle Expands Project and Development Services in Southwest

Firm hires Derrick Gutierrez as Vice President and Mission Critical Solutions Group Lead

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 7, 2011 – Jones Lang LaSalle today announced the appointment of Derrick Gutierrez as Vice President of the firm’s Project and Development Services group.  He will also serve as the Southwest regional project lead in the firm’s Mission Critical Solutions (MCS) group.

Based in Jones Lang LaSalle’s Los Angeles office, Gutierrez will manage highly technical mission critical projects throughout the Southwest.  He is responsible for business development and full life-cycle project management with direct responsibility for overall construction, project scheduling, estimating, budgeting, design team and contractor management, contract negotiations, value-engineering, meeting facilitation and executive reporting.  Gutierrez is currently is overseeing the project management for the major upgrades to City National Bank's data center in Los Angeles.

Prior to joining Jones Lang LaSalle, Gutierrez worked for Syska Hennessey Group Construction Inc. in San Diego, Calif., where he was responsible for managing the San Diego construction division, which focused on mission critical and federal contracting work. Gutierrez’s duties included the delivery of turn key data center solutions for clients, overseeing all aspects of a construction business unit, leading and coordinating design teams to produce functional construction documents; implementing the design documents with the construction group, and ultimately managing the construction process until project completion.

Gutierrez’s forte is his ability to understand and manage highly technical projects that are mechanically and electrically driven. He has successfully implemented more than 1 million square feet of white space; and more than $85 million of successful mission critical projects, establishing a legacy of quality, speed, and cost savings for his clients.

Gutierrez has a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology/construction management and a minor in business administration from California State University, Sacramento. He also has an associate’s degree in architecture from the College of San Mateo.
