Jones Lang LaSalle’s Cedric Thurman Honored as a Top Under-50 Diverse Executive by Diversity MBA Magazine

National business magazine names Thurman to its 2011 “Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Executives & Emerging Leaders” list for his professional achievements and civic commitment

CHICAGO, Sept. 12, 2011 –   Diversity MBA Magazine has recognized Jones Lang LaSalle’s Cedric D. Thurman as one of the “Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Executives & Emerging Leaders.” Diversity MBA Magazine, an internationally distributed publication targeting women and multicultural professionals in corporate business and government, will honor Thurman at its Fifth Annual Leadership Forum and Awards Gala on September 13 and 14 at the Wyndham Chicago Hotel.

Thurman, a senior vice president with Jones Lang LaSalle, joined the firm in 2000 and held several management positions providing real estate services to the firm’s clients before being named chief diversity officer in 2007. After transitioning the role to the firm’s current Chief Diversity Officer, Angela Roseboro, he joined Jones Lang LaSalle’s corporate retail solutions practice in March 2011. In this role, he expands the practice’s platforms across a wide breadth of retail categories and formats, enhances client service offerings, identifies and streamlines best practices, mentors the team and pursues strategic business development opportunities.

“Throughout his career, Cedric has demonstrated his commitment to Jones Lang LaSalle through his client service and his commitment to diversity and inclusion – both in and outside the company,” said Angela Roseboro, current chief diversity officer of Jones Lang LaSalle. “Cedric’s strong business acumen and thought leadership make him the perfect recipient for this award. It is great to see him recognized.”
Thurman holds an M.B.A. in Management Strategy and Marketing from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. His commitment to the civic community includes membership to and council, committee and board positions with the Museum of Science and Industry, Junior Achievement of Chicago, University of Illinois College of Business, INROADS/Chicago, Leadership Greater Chicago and Diversity Executive magazine.  He was recognized with a Jones Lang LaSalle Club award in 2003 for his leadership and contributions to the firm’s growth.

This year’s “Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Executives & Emerging Leaders” roster represents a global selection, with honorees from China, Africa and Europe, and are affiliated with multiple industries, including retail, financial services, transportation, healthcare, education, medical, communications, government and consulting. Eighty percent of the nominees are from corporate America and hold M.B.A. degrees – a 30 percent increase from previous years.

“As Diversity MBA Magazine celebrates our fifth year of recognizing women and diverse talent in leadership, we know we have established a niche that is second to none in recognizing talented individuals who make significant contributions in the workplace and community,” said Pam McElvane, CEO & Publisher of Diversity MBA Magazine. “Many of the other mainstream publications recognize currently celebrated leaders, but I wanted to show the world that companies have leaders championing change and are the pipeline for the future.”
