Playing all positions on a global field

In 2006, adidas Group established a global organization to manage its expanding international real estate portfolio, adidas Group Corporate Real Estate (GCRE). One of their agenda items—bring on a global real estate services partner to help them get the most out of their assets through consistent service delivery worldwide. After a competitive RFP process adidas Group engaged Jones Lang LaSalle to manage their global portfolio.

Jones Lang LaSalle currently handles transactions management, lease administration, and project and development services work for adidas Group’s 21 million-square-foot office, manufacturing and distribution portfolio throughout 58 countries. Our team has helped them generate millions of dollars in savings from across the portfolio. Our approach has helped the GCRE team streamline their real estate objectives and align them with corporate goals.

One of the first steps of our engagement was to help them consolidate the adidas/Reebok distribution center portfolio. In addition, we worked with adidas to set up a lease administration database to help minimize lease costs and greatly enhance the ability to measure and manage the portfolio. To ensure best practices are being implemented portfolio-wide by our global account team, we also set up a web-based platform where best practice processes and forms are stored for easy access from anywhere in the world.

To help the GCRE team quantify the performance of their portfolio, we are establishing robust key performance indicators (KPIs) to demonstrate measurable performance and results from our real estate activities. Working with a broad range of business unit and regional managers, client satisfaction is paramount. To monitor the satisfaction of our clients at all levels of the organization, we send out regular customer satisfaction reports to seek out areas of excellence and any areas for improvement. We currently manage nearly 100 leasing, project management, consulting and finance transactions per year.
