Portfolio Strategy: M&A Success

As one of the world’s leading technology companies, our client was accustomed to acquisitions on their growth path. However, a multinational procurement involving 33 different sites—10 times the size of their normal acquisition—gave pause to this global giant’s seasoned CRE team. They asked our M&A strategic specialists to help develop tools and processes to ease the transition, and provide a template for success in future corporate deals. Leveraging best practices learned from M&A services for several of the world’s largest companies, our Consulting experts developed a consistent worldwide process that:
  • Clarified physical and occupancy data at all target company sites to enable accurate reporting to drive move-ahead strategies based on the client’s existing portfolio and objectives.
  • Mobilized integration teams at all levels and encouraged collaboration across functions such as Information Technology, Human Resources and Finance.
  • Oversaw requirements for co-location of some sites and disposition of others, including necessary upgrades to retained facilities.
  • Transitioned integrated sites into normal business operations.
We enabled the smooth transition of the potentially daunting real estate integration, and our client now has an improved global management program including quick reference orientation materials, balanced scorecard, cross-functional process maps and reporting tools for future efforts.
