Case Study

Advising the State of Rheinland-Pfalz on Real Estate Issues Related to the U.S. Military in Germany

The German State Government of Rheinland-Pfalz, aware of our firm’s advisory work with the armed forces in the United States, approached Jones Lang LaSalle with a related assignment. Understanding that the U.S. military is downsizing its worldwide portfolio, the State wants to retain the military’s presence and its contribution to the local economy.

Jones Lang LaSalle assembled a team of our U.S. government services experts and tapped into the local expertise of our German colleagues from the Frankfurt office to assist with due diligence. Our experience and drive led the Rheinland-Pfalz officials to expand our initial assignment to include advisory services for projects such as:

  • A build-to-lease military housing project for 271 single-family homes around the Spangdahlem Air Base
  • An assignment to help Baumholder U.S. Army Base to regenerate its infrastructure using local private/public partnerships
  •  An initiative in the Kaiserslautern Military Community to maximize their ability to respond to U.S. military Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) privatization mandates.
