Case Study

A long-term investment in real estate management pays dividends

In 1993, a leading financial institution asked Jones Lang LaSalle to better align its real estate with its corporate financial objectives.  The bank had just acquired another financial institution with high back office operational expenses.  Our portfolio efficiency team analyzed facilities and maintenance practices, and slashed operating costs by $1.6 million within a year.

Jones Lang LaSalle has since been retained to make the entire portfolio more efficient, and to help it acquire and dispose of properties as it grew throughout the world.  Armed with a thorough knowledge of the bank’s requirements, the account team engaged our global local market transaction and lease administration experts, and developed an overall strategic plan that, when executed, captured $80 million in savings.  The bank’s real estate executives then asked us to implement a new technology platform, our exclusive OneView tool, which Jones Lang LaSalle had developed internally. OneView now helps all of our clients collaborate with our professionals to successfully manage portfolios day-to-day and develop long-term solutions.

When the bank was acquired, the parent institution engaged Jones Lang LaSalle to manage the new entity’s entire 17 million s.f. global portfolio—doubling our assignment.
