Washington National Cathedral turns to JLL to save historic landmark

When the Washington National Cathedral needed to renovate one of its buildings that had been in operation for more than 60 years, it came to JLL to get the project done on time and on budget.

The 27,340 square foot building formerly housed the College of Preachers, a seminary for Episcopalian clergy, but had needed a repositioning strategy that would allow it to generate enough rent to cover future operating expenses.

JLL provided the Washington National Cathedral’s staff with a fully scalable preliminary study that reflected potential returns from different types of users—like residential, office or retail—and the decision was made that a mix of office and residential units would best preserve this historical landmark for future generations to come.
