JLL AES wins client advocacy role in retail rooftop onsite solar program

JLL developed a 3-step screening process for a retail client in order to decipher where best to implement rooftop onsite solar programs based on incentives and avoidance cost/ kWh. Starting with over 1,400 sites in five states including Hawaii, California, Puerto Rico, Massachusetts, and New York, JLL further screened these sites based on store viability. Based on the outcome of store viability, JLL then went through the process of screening out bidders.

Although this project is still underway, JLL was able to secure a 15-20 year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for 45 million kWh/year. Anticipated savings is $0.02 - $0.03/ kWh, equaling out to over $1M of savings in year one. JLL plans to replicate this process two more times for the client before Q3 of 2015 (to avoid 2016 ITC cut off).
