Kemira Chemicals gets new space that better suits their brand, saves $2 million

Because JLL thought outside the box throughout the entire process, we have a workplace that supports employees thinking outside of the box every day.

Several years ago, Kemira felt the time was right to create a new office space in the Atlanta area that better reflected who we are and what we do.

Of course we partnered with JLL on it. I had worked with them before and I knew they would bring the professionalism and the vision we needed to move quickly and accomplish our goals.

I was excited to see how JLL would incorporate our personality into the project. Knowing the client and understanding their personality is one of JLL’s core assets. As the project unfolded, I saw how they understood our brand, our way of working and our ultimate goals.

JLL was able to envision how all the parts would fi t together, as well as help everyone in our organization move in the same direction. Kemira has a consensus-based culture and JLL understood how to translate that into action and get everyone on board from the start. The JLL team managed all project activities, including planning, design, FF&E selection and procurement, construction, IT, AV and security—ensuring that all design, budget and scheduling goals were met.

The JLL team also managed all the details beautifully, and when you are in charge of a multimillion dollar project, every detail matters. For example, when our furniture supplier said they couldn't deliver until 30 days after our more-in date, JLL took the reins and with level-headed professionalism, put solutions in place. I learned that vendors respected the strength and reach of JLL, which worked in our favor.



The end result was a nontraditional space that reflects the values of our company. When you walk in and see an open space with bright colors, clean lines, custom lighting and walls at unusual angles, you know immediately that you are in a place that values innovation.

We wanted to create a memorable space but we also wanted to challenge the minds of both our employees and visitors. We wanted to create not only a collaborative culture, but also reflect that in our working environment.

The new space has also improved productivity and work processes. The way it is configured promotes integration, collaboration and communication. At Kemira, we prize and value innovation and collaborative thinking—without it you are not going to last in such a competitive market. Because JLL thought outside the box throughout the entire process, we have a workplace that supports employees thinking outside of the box every day.
