Case Study

Whirlpool Maytag

As part of its nationwide distribution network, Whirlpool Corporation needed land for two 1.5 million square-foot distribution centers near Atlanta, Georgia and Columbus, Ohio. As Whirlpool’s longtime real estate advisor, we were asked to maximize cost efficiency and other benefits throughout the process.

After researching all available sites in both markets, we identified the properties with the best access to major highways and rail lines and the right size and configuration to allow for an efficient site plan. Working closely with four sets of attorneys—for the client, investor, developer and sellers—as well as government agencies, we managed the complex negotiation.

The result: timely acquisition of Atlanta and Columbus properties at favorable terms. Whirlpool also received advantageous incentives from local communities without slowing construction.
