Making a near-port development a Georgia peach for investors

Oakmont Realty purchased 40 acres of land eight miles from the Port of Savannah, Georgia, with the intent of spec developing and selling a 650,000 square foot parcel.  The project was supported by the Georgia Port Authority, but Oakmont wanted to extend the range of potential buyers beyond the range of its local brokerage network.  The firm hired Jones Lang LaSalle, which could maximize its international reach and connections with leading maritime logistics firms to help drive the greatest return.

The leader of our Los-Angeles based international Port, Airport and Global Infrastructures Group partnered with our large Atlanta Market office to highlight the major benefits of the parcel and Savannah port to targeted international maritime logistics prospects.  The property was pre-sold prior to the completion of construction to leading shipper Matson Navigation Company.  Both the timeline and the sale price exceeded Oakmont’s expectations.
